ADComms Group developed its service offering in the Rail communications market through the purchase of EXi Telecoms in 2003 (previously Ericsson services UK).

With this purchase the business brought on board telecommunications, design, installation and commissioning engineering capability which has been retained in the business to this day.

Following this acquisition the newly formed Rail Division was successful in securing Phase 1 of the Network Rail FTN/GSM-R contract and in 2008, following a lengthy competitive tendering process, won the Phase 2 contract.

ADComms was formed following the purchase of the ADComms Rail Business from the ADComms Group in December 2011.

In the transportation sector, ADComms has been working with Network Rail for over ten years; supporting Network Rail in the roll-out of its GSMR programme, including the fit out and commissioning of over 2000 telecommunications buildings.

In the mobile telecoms sector, ADComms has worked extensively across the industry. Its achievements include being responsible for:

  • Vodafone containerisation program on UK cellular roll out. The programme ran between 1998 and 2006, with approximately 6000 containers installed and delivered
  • Spares management services (transmission, switching, radio and DC power) for Ericsson & O2 Airwave
  • Site decommissioning and rebuilds (swapping out one vendor’s equipment for another’s) for Vodafone
  • radio site decommissioning and refurbishment programme for T-Mobile
  • The first containerisation solution for T-mobile (previously one2one). The programme ran between 1996 and 2006, with approximately 8500 containers installed and delivered
